Kilkhampton, once called Kilhamland, is situated in the Deanery of Trigg Major and Hundred of Stratton. It is bordered by Morwenstow to the north, Bradworthy and Sutcombe (in Devon) to the east, Pancrasweek (in Devon), Launcells and Poughill to the south and the ocean to the west. This ancient settlement is the most northerly village in Cornwall. Kilkhampton is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 in an entry "The King holds Chilchetone". The main village is the churchtown.
