St Columb Minor

St Columb Minor is situated in the Deanery and Hundred of Pydar. It is bordered by Mawgan-in-Pydar to the north, St Columb Major and Colan to the east, Newlyn East to the south and the Bristol Channel to the west. A large area of North Cornwall bears the name of St Columb. It is divided between the parishes of St Columb Major and St Columb Minor which until relatively recently were known as Higher and Lower St Columb. Another old name used for St Columb Minor was Nether St Columb. In 1960, the civil parish of St Columb was subsumed by Newquay of which St Columb Minor is now a suburb. Besides the churchtown, the main villages were Trencreek, Chapel Porth, Lane, Shop and Trenance.
