Morwenstow

Morwenstow is situated in the Deanery of Trigg Major and Hundred of Stratton. It is bordered by the Devon parishes of Wellcombe and Hartland to the north, the Devon parish of Bradworthy to the east, Kilkhampton to the south and the ocean to the west. This most northerly parish of Cornwall is near the Devon border. The eccentric Robert Stephen Hawker was vicar here from 1834 to 1875. He wrote many poems and hymns, one of which, Trelawney, is often regarded as the National Anthem of Cornwall. The rivers Torridge and Tamar rise in the north-eastern quarter of the parish. The main villages and hamlets are the churchtown, Gooseham, Woodford, Eastcot and Wooley.
